Grants for churches and faith-based nonprofits
As of October 2026, we track 3 verified programs that only churches, congregations and faith-based nonprofits can apply for: 1 nationwide and 2 limited to one state or region.
Most grant lists bury church money between programs a congregation can't touch. Everything on this page is the other way around: the funder wants a church or a faith-based group. Each row shows the funder's own rules, because many add one of their own, like a building age or years in the community. Several pay to restore or repair a historic house of worship.
3 grants your church could win, by name
Only churches, congregations and faith-based organizations can apply for these. The "Funder's rules" line under each one gives the rest, like where the building must be or how long you have been there. Each one links to the funder's official page.

Straight answers
Can any church apply for these?
Every program here is only for churches, congregations or faith-based organizations. Most add a rule of their own, such as a building built as a house of worship, a minimum number of years, or a location. The "Funder's rules" line on each row tells you before you spend an afternoon on it.
Why don't I see grants that are only for one denomination?
We only list a program when every rule on the funder's page is one we can check for you. Programs open to a single denomination, or that need a membership or an invitation, stay off this list until we can.
Do we pay these back?
No. Grants are not loans. Each row shows the date we last checked it against the funder's own page.
A church can apply for more than church-only grants
Your church is a nonprofit, so community, food and historic preservation grants could fit too. The 3-minute quiz checks your state and mission against every nonprofit grant we have verified, including the church-only programs above. When it asks what your nonprofit works in, pick "Church or faith-based organization."
